User Friendly Interface

XSPOC is very easy to use. In fact, most users find they can be highly proficient in a short time and with very little training. It allows you to simultaneously view a list of wells, the surface and downhole dynamometer cards, important parameters for the well, and the expert diagnostic analysis. The wells can be grouped in any way you want and you can easily switch from the dynamometer card screen to the well status screen, the trending screen, or any other screen available. Or you can keep all screens open simultaneously.

Grouping Wells

XSPOC makes finding problem wells very easy. It's navigation revolves around customizable well groups. From the start, wells are viewed through exception groups such as "Enabled", "Disabled", "24 hour", "Alarms", and the encompassing "All". By expanding these groups, the wells that meet that criteria are exposed. From a practical standpoint, if someone want's to know all the wells in alarm just expand the "Alarm" group.

Additionally, this same functionality can easily be customized to include organizational or geographical groups, like operators or fields. If there is a way to describe the critiria for a group of wells, the customer is able to create that group, thereby allowing full customization of this feature.

All of the system reports are built to work with these groups including automatic morning reports.

How are my wells operating right now?

The group status screen allows users to view the current state of wells at a glance. This screen uses intuitive colors to draw attention to problem conditions. Not only can the user view the status and alarm states for each well, but there are also over fifty other columns of collected data available. Each user is allowed to customize the columns that they want to see, so it is very flexible.

Other features of the Group Status include quick sorting of any column and easy entry of user comments. This screen also allows real time control of the wells, including starting, stopping, clearing alarms, etc.

What's really wrong with my well?

One of XSPOC's most valuable screens, the card viewer collects, displays, and analyzes dynometer cards. Even though XSPOC is set to collect cards and to perform XDIAG's diagnostics on every well every night, there are times when it might be necessary to pull the latest startup, pump-off, current, or buffer from the POC. It's a snap. Select the card then push the "Get Card" button.

The card is delivered to the card library. This library catalogs past cards making it easy to compare multiple cards (including their downhole or RODSTAR's predicted card) at the same time. Just double click the card to display it. The library also provides the ability to make notes on each card and mark a card to be saved forever.

The card viewer also allows specific properties, like POC setpoint, malfunction point, and load limits, to be set visually. Just drag and drop it to the its new location.

Is my well operating differently than before?

The Data History is a timeline of all well data including analysis calculations and well events. It can show trends of falling production or show early signs of pump wear. Any trended parameter can be analyzed using statistical process control which automatically sets upper and lower control limits. Or the user can override the automatic limits and set his own. Parameters falling outside these limits are easily viewed on the Group Status screen.

The frequency of data storage and the amount of data retained is customizable by the customer.

State of the Art Expert Analysis

Along with retrieving and storing data, XSPOC gives a detailed diagnosis in a very understandable format.

Is everything I need right here?

The card viewer provides an at-a-glance view of the well's pumping condition. Intuitively organized, this screen displays a plain English description of the diagnostics.

eXpert DIAGnostic analysis software

XSPOC contains the powerful XDIAG expert diagnostic analysis software. It provides automatic expert diagnosis of every well, every day. XDIAG uses pattern recognition and artificial intelligence to identify the pump condition, fluid level, pump friction, etc. and creates an expert report for each well in plain English.

XDIAG also recognizes problems with the input data and either automatically corrects the data or notifies the user of the problem.

What if my input data is bad?

While XDIAG would favor having perfect input data we also understand this is the real world. XDIAG will identify many data problems and can automatically correct most of them. These data corrections include fixing errors with load cells, position transducers, top-of-stroke settings, stroke length inconsistancies, etc. Diagnostic software which does not perform these corrections will give much less accurate results.

How will XSPOC fit into my existing systems?

XSPOC is the only system of its type that is built entirely on an open SQL database. This allows XSPOC to fit in nicely with your existing data systems. Our competition uses proprietary closed databases that require special tools to access the data.

Why Microsoft SQL Server?

Microsoft SQL Server's popularity continues to grow. It's easy to use, easy to add and change data, and can be used (imported or exported) by a wide variety of data aware applications. The best aspect is that your company can link any number of applications in the XSPOC database to extract or even add data without even using XSPOC.

Does XSPOC work with Access or Excel?

Many users are already using Microsoft applications such as Access and Excel. These products can be linked directly to XSPOC data, allowing users to query, analyze, and report data in ways they are already familiar with.

I already use RODSTAR. How does it fit in?

All of Theta's other products are tightly integrated with XSPOC. If a user wants to redesign a well using RODSTAR this can be done by clicking on the RODSTAR button on XSPOC's toolbar. This elimates the need to re-enter production and equipment data because this information is already stored in XSPOC.

I already have well data in other systems. Can I use it?

Most oil companies already have data that is needed by XSPOC in other databases. This may include information such as rod strings, well test data, pump size, etc. With the open architecture of XSPOC, it is easy to integrate this information so the user is not burdened with entering data twice.

Can the system inform me of problems?

Key people need to know when wells are down or outside acceptable levels. XSPOC can automatically notify users via alpha pagers and voice call out.

What about automatic reports?

The XSPOC system has a flexible reporting system that allows users to not only view reports but to send them to printers, web servers, and email. The reports can be scheduled for automatic printing using any well group that the customer specifies. While the built-in reports should meet all the users needs, custom reports can be easily generated using Microsoft Access or other reporting tools.

What devices does XSPOC work with?

XSPOC is compatible with all the major pump-off controllers available on the market. Theta also supports other devices including submersible controllers and flow controllers. Theta is actively working on adding more wellhead devices, including flow controllers, plunger lift, and gas lift. XSPOC can also communicate with any Modbus-compatible device for other applications including tank battery monitoring and other RTU/PLC applications.

How do I tie XSPOC to my devices?

XSPOC supports all of the communication technologies being used in the oilfield today. These include radio telemetry, hardwire communications, Ethernet, CDPD, OPC, DDE, satellite, etc. XSPOC can even communicate over the internet. All of the communication protocols have been designed by Theta to maximize performance with these various communication methods.

Theta is there to help.

Theta takes pride in providing optimal support. Our support plan allows unlimited phone calls to answer questions and help with any problems. The support plan also gives users all updates available for our software.

What if I'm having problems?

Most of our support is done by remotely accessing the customer's system through dial-in or VPN. In doing this, Theta can view the same screens that the user is seeing, allowing optimal interaction to answer questions or fix problems quickly. We also use remote communications to maintain and update the XSPOC software. Our service pack updates provide an easy mechanism to keep the software current without requiring much, if any, of the customer's time and resources.

We get back to you.

Many of our customers are surprised at the speed at which we can respond to problems or develop additional features. Whether a new feature or a potential problem, we are available and able to fix it very quickly.

Taking input seriously.

You use the system so why not suggest what you would like to use it for? We believe that the customer drives our product. We evaluate how we can add suggested features and get them out soon (many times in the following service pack). XSPOC grows around the customer.

We help you figure it out.

Industry tested professionals are available to enhance the systems diagnostic capability. If there is something unusual in the diagnostic results, just click the email theta button and send the card directly to Theta Enterprises to be analyzed. Usually within twenty-four hours a response from Theta is received with further explanation or follow up questions. This is also the mechanism Theta uses to build its extensive card pattern database.
